We have take off with fractions in Math! At this point, the kids can confidently tell you what the denominator is and how to find it. They can also tell you that a fraction is made up of EQUAL parts and can identify equal parts of a whole. Ask them about Skittles fractions! As we move on into the week, we'll be able to match fraction pictures with their numerical counterparts and learn how to do fractions on a number line. In Social Studies, we learned all about George Washington Carver (ask your kiddos what one of his nicknames was!) and this week we'll be learning about Harry S, Truman, another famous, historical Missourian! Today, we kicked off our Ancient Roman Civilization unit by sorting our new spelling words into 'ar', 'or', 'ir', 'er', and 'ur'. The goal of visually sorting is to help the kids correspond the sounds with the correct spelling. The practice assessment will be the Tuesday we return from Easter Break and the regular assessment will take place that Friday for those who need it.  Also- a reminder that our class will visit the book fair this Friday! You can send money to school with your student, or you can use the handy E-Wallet from Scholastic. If you don't still have the flyer that was sent home, I'll make sure to get you the info so you can register for the e-wallet if you'd like!
