Fall is in full force in 3r and we decided to celebrate the falling of leaves by going on a leaf hunt and creating leaf animals! In Math, we've started Unit 5, which is a continuation of Multiplication and Division strategies and diving a little deeper into the Distributive Property. We'll be wrapping up Unit 5 next week with an assessment. We've started Unit 2 in Language Arts, which is a non-fiction unit based on the classification of animals. With this unit will also come our spelling words, increased morphology and grammar studies, and exploring author's purpose. In Religion, we wrapped up our study of Saints, explored Dios de los Muertos, and honored our Veterans. and We are also introducing a new Center, the "Creation Station". This center will focus on artistic endeavors such as textile arts, beading, etc. In my opinion, 3rd grade is a great age to explore using needle and thread to create, so I've ordered blunt tip needles for the kids to use. They will pierce through thin fabrics, but are not sharp like regular needles. I can't wait to see what comes from this center! If you have any of the following laying around and would like to donate, it would be appreciated: ribbon, elastic, stuffing, beads, buttons.
